Canadian born children's author Mel McIntyre will be visiting Castlegate Books on Saturday 3rd December from 1pm onwards. The book signing will be during the Knaresborough Christmas Market, where you can pick up local produce, or Christmas gifts.

A Crude Awakening - The Oil Crash

We are currently selling tickets for this 90 minute documentary on the planet's dwindling oil resources. The film will be shown at the Frazer Theatre, Knaresborough on Wednesday 23rd March at 8pm, refreshments are included. Tickets are £5, or £3.50 for concessions.

Penny Rudge will be visiting the shop on Saturday 24th April to sign copies of her first novel, Foolish Lessons In Life And Love. This title should be of interest to book clubs and to fans of Marina Lewycka. The book is available in store at £11.99 in paperback.

We are having a guest speaker - Jeremy Stuehmeyer - in on Thursday 22nd April at 7:30pm to talk about family history. Jeremy is a professional family history researcher, genealogist and historian. Tikcets are still available at £2.50 per person.

We have a limited edition of 'Blind Jack Of Knaresborough' available for purchase online. Only 550 copies were printed in 1989, a reprint of the 18th century original of this early biography of John Metcalf.

Fiction author Margaret Thornton visited the bookshop today and signed copies of three of her titles - "A true love of mine", "Above the bright blue sky", and "Remember me". Margaret is currently writing her next book which will be available in November in hardback and is called "Until we meet again".
